Antonine University (UA), through Chamber Music Season VIII, presents a cello and piano recital featuring Ettore Pagano (cello) and Massimo Spada (piano).
Internationally acclaimed for his expressive depth and technical mastery, Ettore Pagano represents a new generation of cellists shaping today’s classical music scene. He is joined by Massimo Spada, a pianist renowned for his refined interpretative approach and versatility as a chamber musician. Together, they form a compelling duo marked by balance, intensity, and musical dialogue.
For this concert, Pagano and Spada present a program that explores the expressive breadth of the cello–piano repertoire through contrasting musical languages of the 20th century and late Romanticism. From dramatic modern expression to sweeping lyricism, the program reflects a journey shaped by emotional depth, virtuosity, and refined collaboration:
• A. Schnittke: Cello Sonata No. 1, Op. 129
• G. Ligeti: Sonata for Cello Solo
• B. Martinů: Variations on a Theme of Rossini, H. 290
• S. Rachmaninoff: Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 19
An evening that celebrates expressive contrast, musical intensity, and the power of chamber music as a dialogue between voices, eras, and artistic visions.
